Petition presented to Health Board

The Plaid Cymru Councillors for Cilfynydd and Ynysybwl together with Heledd Fychan (Senedd Member for South Wales Central) have presented petitions signed by over 500 residents to the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board.

The petitions both oppose plans by Taff Vale Surgery to close their premises in both villages.

The health board has shared with us that these are the next steps, following the closure of the public consultation on 8th March:

  • Health Board to now consider all emails, written correspondence, questionnaires and concerns raised at both public events and to produce a report.
  • Taff Vale Practice to then review all of the information, and explore all alternative suggestions that could either avoid closure or reduce the risks associated if the closures go ahead.
  • Full consultation report to be presented to the Contract Variation Group on the 12th of April. This date is dependent upon the completion of the Report detailing the practice intentions being submitted promptly.  The Health Board can offer some flexibility should the practice need more time to consider the information provided. If, after careful consideration, the practice still wishes to formally close the two branch surgeries, and CVG supports this,  the proposal would then need to be considered by the Executive Board who will make the final decision.
  • The Consultation Report will be made available online at least 7 days before the Board Meeting date of Thursday 30th May 2024. The link to view the documentation will be shared with elected representatives, on the appropriate social media platforms, and the practice webpage.
