Plaid Cymru Call on Council to Rethink Appeal

Plaid Cymru criticise Rhondda Cynon Taf Council following the announcement they are appealing a high court judgement

On September 24th 2020, RCT Council announced they would appeal the outcome of the Judicial Review relating to a shake up that would have seen schools and sixth forms closed, and majorly impacted on equity of access to Welsh medium education.

Plaid are calling on RCT Council and the Welsh Government to remove their appeal and instead engage with local communities to develop alternative plans, rather than follow this costly course of action.

Councillor for Pontypridd Town ward and Senedd candidate for Pontypridd, Heledd Fychan, said:

"I am hugely disappointed by the decision to appeal this by RCT Council and Welsh Ministers. Rather than waste money fighting this, the Council
should be working with local communities to develop alternative proposals."

"Alongside local campaigners, I will continue to fight for what is right for the future of education in Wales and the future of the Welsh language."
